Let’s Boycott 3-D Movies (Especially for Little Kids)

My daughter wants to go see Gnomeo and Juliet and bring 2 friends along. Gnomeo and Juliet is only available in 3D at the 4 closest movie theaters and I am holding out for the regular version. First of all, 3D movies are expensive, even the matinees. I am not shelling out almost 100 bucks for a bunch of second graders and a preschooler to go to the movies. Second, my preschooler hates 3D glasses and takes them off and then he watches a blurry movie screen. Third, well- I don’t really want to see Gnomeo and Juliet today, but that’s besides the point.

I wondered if I am simply a curmudgeon, but then my brother in law told me about Roger Ebert’s reasons why he is not a fan of 3D

I will save my 3-D movie money for shoes instead.

either. Well, I suppose he is a curmudgeon, too. But he is right.
